Milestone birthdays, private nights out and parties on the water around Auckland, filmed the way the night actually went rather than staged for the camera.
Why this brief is different
Nobody at a party is there to be filmed. That single fact decides how the night gets covered, and it is the difference between footage people want to watch back and footage everyone looks stiff in.
Most of the night is shot from the edge of the room on a longer lens. Guests stop noticing within about twenty minutes, and that is when the footage starts being worth having.
No second takes on a speech or a cake. Coverage is planned around the two or three moments that have to be caught, and everything else is what the night gives up.
Venues are lit for atmosphere. The kit is chosen so a dim room does not need lights rigged into it, because the moment you light a party it stops looking like one.
What this usually looks like
A 21st, a 30th, a 50th. Arrivals, speeches, the room at its loudest, cut into something short enough that people actually finish it.
Auckland Harbour is its own kind of shoot day. Moving deck, changing light and nowhere to put a tripod. I have worked this one enough times to plan around it.
Vertical, captioned and out fast, because a party video that arrives three weeks later has missed the point.
What it costs
From $800 for a half day, up to four hours at one location. A full night runs from $1,800 and covers up to ten hours on site with a finished cut. Same itemised quote as any other job, back the same day.

Not all of it, and you would not want it. The camera is rolling for arrivals, the moments you have told me matter, and the parts of the night that are worth watching back. The rest is people talking to each other.
Yes, if it is arranged before the night rather than on it. A same-night or next-morning cut changes how the whole evening gets covered, so it is priced and planned up front.
Early on, yes. After the first drink, generally not. One person with one camera is a lot easier to forget about than a crew, which is most of why the footage looks the way it does.
