Declan Gale. London trained, Auckland based
I'm Declan Gale, a freelance videographer and editor based in Auckland.
I film events, corporate video, brand films, social content and creative work, and I do the filming and the editing myself.
Since moving to New Zealand in early 2025 I've been freelancing for brands, agencies and event organisers across Auckland and wider New Zealand.
Before that I was at London Filmed for twenty months, shooting and cutting ads, interviews, campaigns, events and livestreams. A lot of it was multi-cam on Sony FX3, FX6, FS7 and FX9. That's where the fast setups and the habit of telling a room exactly what's happening came from.
Before all of that I trained at the BRIT School in London, four years of film and media.

You send the brief
Whatever you've got, even two lines. I send a written quote back, usually the same day, with any assumptions written on it.
We lock the day
Date, call time, locations and the delivery date, all in writing. If there's a run sheet, I'll work off it.
The shoot
I turn up early, set up quietly and stay out of the way. One person with one kit, so nobody on your side is managing a crew.

A cut back on the date we agreed, notes in one list, then graded files by private Smash link. No watermarks and ready to post.

Most venues and corporate sites want a certificate on file before you are allowed on the floor. Ask and it goes out the same day.
Ask for a certificate →Auckland based. I travel across New Zealand, and to Australia when a project calls for it, with cover extended for the job.
Most jobs are around the city, from Britomart and Wynyard Quarter out to the North Shore, West Auckland and down to Manukau. Travel and flights go in the quote as their own line so there's no surprise at the end.
Australia is arranged job by job. My public liability cover is written for New Zealand and the Pacific Islands, so an Australian date needs the extension arranged with the insurer before it is confirmed. Ask early and it is straightforward. Flights, accommodation and the travel days go on the quote as their own lines, so what it costs to get there is visible before you book. The job itself runs the way it does at home.
