What you get
The formats available off an event shoot. Which of these are included, and how many, is set on the quote: the $1,800 starting price covers one recap edit.
Recap edit In the $1,800
Two to three minutes, 16:9, graded and delivered as MP4, ready to upload.
Vertical cuts Added to quote
Thirty to sixty seconds, 9:16, cut from the same footage. Quoted as their own line on top of the recap.
Optional extras Added to quote
Speaker pull-quotes, burned-in or SRT captions, and a selection of stills. Quoted at the same time as the shoot.
A recap is a selected edit rather than a full record of the event. If specific people or moments have to appear in it, list them before the shoot.
What event coverage costs in Auckland
Covers a day on site and one recap edit, graded and delivered.
Four things change the price: hours on site, whether a second camera is used, how many deliverables come off the shoot, and turnaround. Travel beyond 50 km from central Auckland is quoted as a separate line. Every quote is itemised.
How the night is covered
Audio
Wireless lavalier mics on speakers, a shotgun mic for room sound, and a feed from the AV desk where one is available. Lectern mics feed the venue PA rather than the camera and aren't a usable source.
Cameras
One operator as standard. A second camera is quoted separately and used where a moment happens once, such as an award handover or a ribbon cut. It's matched to the main camera so both angles cut together.
Needed from you
A run sheet with times against anything that has to be filmed, access to the spaces being filmed, and one named contact on the night.
Kit and cover
Sony FX3 as the main camera. Full frame, 4K up to 120fps, and usable at high ISO, so a dark venue doesn’t need additional lighting rigged.
Public liability insurance and separate equipment cover. Certificate supplied on request, usually the same day. Most Auckland venues and corporate sites require one before granting floor access.
Delivery
Social cuts: a few days. Full edit: one to two weeks. Same-night and next-morning edits are quoted separately and arranged before the shoot, as they change how the day is covered.
The delivery date is confirmed in writing before the shoot. Files come by private download link.
Where I film
Across Auckland, including the CBD, Britomart, Wynyard Quarter, the North Shore, West Auckland and Manukau. Travel around the rest of New Zealand, and Australia where a job requires it.
Questions
How much does an event videographer cost in Auckland?
From $1,800, covering a day on site and a recap edit. Longer days, a second camera, extra deliverables and rush turnarounds are quoted separately and itemised before booking.
Can we get something to post the same night?
Yes, where it's arranged at the quote stage. It changes how the day is covered, so it can't be added on the night.
Who owns the footage?
I hold the copyright. You have a licence to use the delivered videos from delivery, which becomes permanent once the invoice is paid.
How far ahead should we book?
Two to three weeks is comfortable. Short notice is worth asking about.
