Asked before, videography questions asked before nearly every booking
I aim to get a written quote back to you the same day. If I'm on a shoot and it's going to take longer than that, you'll hear from me that day to say when it's coming.
The quote breaks out the day on site, each deliverable, travel and turnaround as separate lines, and there is no charge or obligation attached to it.
Starting prices run from $600 for edit-only work to $2,500 for a brand or corporate film, depending on the shoot and how much editing sits behind it. Every starting point by job type is on the pricing page.
A half-day event cut is a very different job to a scripted brand film, so one number would not tell you much. Tell me what you are planning and I will send a written quote, usually the same day.
Brand and corporate films start at $2,500, and every job gets a written quote before anything is booked.
That starting point covers one or two shoot days, a finished main film and a vertical cut. Graphics, music licensing, scripting and extra versions sit on top and are quoted before anything is booked. Because I shoot and edit myself, you are paying for one person and one kit.
Two to three weeks is comfortable.
Event dates are held on a first-confirmed basis, so booking early costs nothing.
Often, yes.
Dates go to whoever confirms first, so if the day is free it is yours. If it is this week, call, since that is the quickest way to find out whether the date is open. The quote still goes out in writing before anything is booked.
Usually about a week for social cuts and one to two weeks for a full edit.
You get a delivery date up front, in writing, before the shoot. If you need something turned around the next morning, say so early. It is often doable.
Often yes, if you tell me before the shoot.
Same-night and next-morning turnarounds are a normal ask for events and awards nights, and I plan the shoot differently when I know one is coming.
Yes. I am Auckland based and happy to travel.
I work right across Auckland, from the CBD out to the North Shore, West Auckland and Manukau, and I take shoots around the rest of New Zealand. I can travel to Australia if a project calls for it, with cover extended for the job. Travel and flights go on the quote as their own line.
Yes. $2,000,000 public liability, plus separate cover on my equipment.
Most venues and corporate sites want a certificate before you are allowed on the floor. Ask and I will send it through.
I keep the copyright in the footage. You can use the delivered videos from the moment they land, and that licence becomes permanent once the invoice is paid.
Unless the quote says otherwise, the licence covers your own website and social channels, internal use and paid promotion of your own business, worldwide, with no time limit. Broadcast television, cinema and placements inside a streaming service need clearing separately because of how the music is licensed, so say so at the quote stage. While an invoice is overdue the licence can be suspended. Outright ownership is an assignment of copyright, and it has to be agreed before the job is booked. Raw footage isn't part of the delivery and goes on the quote as its own line at $400 if you want it.
Yes. Weekend and evening shoots are normal.
Most event work is at night or at a weekend, so those dates are quoted the same way as any other. Days past ten hours are charged as overtime, at the rate on your quote.
Graded, ready-to-post files in the formats you need.
A master 16:9 cut, plus vertical and square versions for the feed if that is part of the job. Captions and a stills selection on request. Everything arrives by private Smash link, no watermarks. The link is live for the window named on your quote, so grab the files and keep your own copy.
A Sony FX3, a full-frame cinema camera.
The FX3 is what I know best. 4K up to 120fps and clean enough in low light to work a whole evening without a lighting truck. Where a job needs a second camera it is matched to the FX3 so both angles cut together.
Event coverage starts at $1,800, covering a day on site and a recap edit.
Longer days, a second camera, extra versions and rush turnarounds are quoted separately before anything is booked. Travel beyond 50 km from central Auckland goes on the quote as its own line.
Yes. Edit-only work starts at $600 and is quoted per project.
Long-form down to short, colour grading, captions and vertical versions, in Premiere Pro or DaVinci Resolve. Price depends on how much footage there is and what you want out of it, so tell me roughly both.
Two rounds as standard, and a round is one consolidated written list.
Notes come from the person named on the quote, in one list, within ten working days. A round covers trims and timing, swapping a shot for another from the same footage, text and caption fixes, colour and sound adjustments, and music changes from the tracks already discussed. A different structure, a different runtime or aspect ratio, new footage, a new music direction or notes from someone who hasn't been involved up to that point count as a new deliverable, and they're quoted before work starts.
Raw footage is held for 90 days after delivery, then the drives get cleared.
If you want it kept longer, archive storage goes on the quote. The delivered files are yours to keep from the moment they land.
Say so at the quote stage and it gets cleared properly.
The music and stock behind a normal job is licensed for your own website, social channels and paid social, which covers almost everything. Broadcast television, cinema and paid placements inside a streaming service need their own licence, and that's much cheaper to sort before the edit than after it.
No. Weddings are their own craft and there are people in Auckland who do them properly.
My work is events, corporate video, brand films and social content, so a wedding would be a worse day for you than hiring someone who shoots them every weekend. If you ask anyway, I will point you at someone who does.
