A half day costs most of a full day once travel and setup are counted, so it is not priced at half. It suits one interview, a short promo or one thing done properly.

Most jobs get shaped around a budget rather than the other way round. No job is too small to ask about, and the quote is free either way.
A shoot day each month and a batch of finished cuts, so there is always something new to post. Three month minimum, and the rate holds across the term.
Footage already shot? Long-form down to short, colour graded, captioned, vertical versions. In Premiere Pro or DaVinci Resolve. Priced on how much footage there is and what you want out of it, not by the hour.
From the quotes I've seen around Auckland, a finished corporate video tends to land somewhere between $3,000 and $30,000, and freelance day rates somewhere between $800 and $2,500.
One person shooting and editing, insured, with backup on the day.
The person who filmed it cuts it, so nothing gets lost in a handover. No producer or account manager to pay for, which is the whole reason the numbers sit where they do. Extra crew, actors or a graphics package get added to the quote when a job needs them.

Raw footage is held for 90 days after delivery. Archive storage keeps it for twelve months instead, from $150 for a single shoot day and $250 for multi-day or multi-camera. Renewable, and cheapest asked for at the quote stage.
Priority is next working day to three working days. Same night changes how the whole day gets covered.

Because a day rate tells you nothing about what you end up with. Two jobs can take the same day on site and land three weeks apart in the edit. Pricing by job type means the quote reflects the finished thing, not the hours.
It is the floor, and plenty of jobs land on it. What pushes it up is a longer day, more finished pieces, a second camera, further rounds of changes or a rush turnaround, and each of those is a separate line on the quote.
Yes. A 50% deposit is how a date gets held, and it's on the quote before anything is booked. The date isn't held until it's in.
